The Hawaiian Airlines World Elite MasterCard Makes Travel Easier
When you shop around for a travel rewards credit card, you want one that is going to give you what you need, as well as special perks, discounts, and anything that allows you to save money. You want a low annual fee, competitive rates, and the ability to use it wherever you go. The Hawaiian Airlines World Elite MasterCard does all of these things and more.
To acquire the Hawaiian Airlines World Elite MasterCard, you have to qualify. In order to qualify, you have to meet the credit criteria. You will also have to meet the income requirements. If your income is not sufficient enough based on your obligations, Barclays Bank Delaware may opt to not open an account for you. The offer is available to new cardholders only.
The 50% one-time companion discount on a roundtrip between Hawaii and North America is a deal that can save a great deal of money. The primary cardholder is eligible to receive this discount for coach fare only upon their new account approval. But in addition to this, the primary cardholder is eligible to receive a discount on a coach companion ticket on the anniversary date of the credit card account.
Once the initial discount is awarded, it does have to be used within 13 months of the card issuance. The trip has to be booked on the Hawaiian Airlines MasterCard. It should be noted that the discount is not applied to any fees, taxes, or surcharges that may result. For instance, there is tax that is applied to each ticket purchase, the enplanement September 11th security Fee (does not exceed $10), and the PFC surcharge. Neighbor island flights are not eligible for the companion discount.
The primary cardholder has to be one of the flight passengers and both must be booked for the same flight and same class of service. If the trip is a multi-city flight, then the companion discount does not apply. This offer cannot be transferred to another HawaiianMiles member.
Baggage Fee Waiver
The primary cardholder is entitled to a one-time baggage fee waiver for their first checked bag on Hawaiian Airline flights. There are some restrictions, such as the waiver not being able to be used for a secondary account holder. It also cannot be used to someone who is authorized to use the account and the waiver is only effective for travel between Hawaii and North America and between Neighbor islands. International flights do not qualify.
In order to qualify for the baggage fee waiver, the Hawaiian Airlines ticket must be made with Hawaiian Airlines and not a third party vendor. At the time of purchase, the primary cardholder must provide their HawaiianMiles member number that is associated with the credit card at the time they check-in. Your account must be current in order to qualify.
If you are a Pualani Gold, Pualani platinum, or Premier Club Primary cardmember, you will receive one additional complimentary checked bag in addition to the baggage allowance with your current membership.
Making Travel Easier
In addition to the programs that are afforded to members, such as the companion ticket discounts and free checked bags, there are ways in which the Hawaiian Airlines World Elite MasterCard makes travel easier. For instance, the fact that the card is a chip card makes it acceptable all around the world. Some countries are using the chip card system for added security, which means you can be confident when using your card internationally. Add in the fact that there are no foreign transaction fees and the card is even more convenient to use.
You can also earn up to ten times the miles at select partners. Again, these are opportunities that can save you money and/or add to the convenience factor of the card.
If you need a gift bought and you have no time to shop, the concierge service can be very convenient. Of course, any charges will be applied to your card. The service itself is free. If your luggage is lost, you can be reimbursed for the loss so you can replace your items. If you need travel assistance, that is available to you as well. When renting a car while on your trip, you can opt for the damage waiver provided by your card rather than the one provided by the car rental company and save some money. You will also want to keep yourself up-to-date on the VIP events and unique experiences that are afforded to cardholders. You may even find that a specific event or VIP opportunity will be worth scheduling a trip around. The opportunities are many when you are a member.
The card is mainly going to cost you in the way of the APR. There is a small annual fee and the exact APR that is received depends on creditworthiness and the Prime Rate. Purchase and balance APR reside within a range. You will receive a rate within that range. The cash advance APR is fixed regardless of creditworthiness. There are transaction fees associated with cash advances and balance transfers. However, there are no foreign transaction fees. There is also a late fee and a returned payment fee. If a payment is made late or a payment is returned due to insufficient funds, then the fee will be assessed. Both fees can be assessed at the same time if a returned payment causes a late payment.
It is also important to note that a late payment can lead to a penalty APR being applied to the account. This rate may be applied indefinitely, depending on the discretion of Barclaycard, the issuer of the credit card account. Other than this, there are no other costs associated with the card and you can avoid paying APR on purchases by simply paying off the entire balance before the due date.
The Hawaiian Airlines World Elite MasterCard is a travel rewards credit card with few fees, a low annual fee, and many perks that make travel more affordable and simply add to the overall convenience of having a credit card account.
